I’m Not Done Yet is an original rearing horse painting in mixed media oils on canvas, part of a wildlife series exploring strength.

There’s a moment in every rise where the outcome isn’t decided yet. The legs are still in the air. The mane is still catching wind. Nothing has landed. That’s the moment I wanted to paint, not the triumph after, but the instant just before it, when all you have is the decision to keep going.

This horse carries a kind of strength that has nothing to do with the burst of motivation that gets you started. That part is easy, and it fades fast. What I painted here is what comes after, the stamina that shows up when the excitement is gone and you rise anyway, because stopping was never really an option you believed in. Her mane is layered with gold leaf and collaged pattern, fragments building on fragments, the way persistence is built moment by moment rather than in one dramatic leap.
