Some decisions look impossible from the outside. From the inside, they feel like the only path forward.
In March 2026, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life. I left a secure engineering career to become a full-time artist. There was no guaranteed income, no backup plan, and no certainty about what lay ahead. What I did have was a studio, a stack of canvases, and a quiet belief that if I didn’t take the leap then, I never would.
Just three months later, three of my paintings were selected for an international exhibition at Milan Art Gallery in Sarasota, Florida.
This is the story of that journey.
The Leap
My path to becoming an artist wasn’t sudden. It evolved over many years.
I trained as a Civil Engineer in India and built a career in the government sector. It was stable, respected, and predictable. Yet something always felt incomplete.
In 2021, I moved to Australia during the COVID pandemic. Leaving behind family, friends, and everything familiar gave me an opportunity to rediscover myself. During that time, painting became more than a creative outlet. It became a place where I could express emotions that words could never fully capture.
I painted before work, late at night, and every weekend. What started as a passion slowly became a calling.
Eventually, I realised I could no longer divide my time between two very different lives.
In March 2026, I chose art.
Discovering My Artistic Voice
My work explores the connection between emotion, colour, and texture.
Every painting begins with an idea, a memory, or a feeling. Through layers of mixed media, expressive mark-making, and intuitive brushstrokes, I create artworks that invite viewers to pause, reflect, and discover their own stories.
Many of my paintings combine abstraction and realism. I enjoy the balance between structure and freedom, allowing each piece to evolve naturally while remaining deeply personal.
Nature, everyday life, and human emotion continue to inspire my work.
A Life-Changing Opportunity
Only a few months after becoming a full-time artist, I came across a call for entries for Abstract Horizons, an international juried exhibition hosted by Milan Art Gallery in Sarasota, Florida.
The exhibition explored themes of possibility, transformation, and new beginnings.
Those themes reflected exactly where I was in life.
I submitted three paintings.
Each represented a different chapter of my personal journey.
When I received the email confirming that all three artworks had been selected, I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude. It reminded me that authentic work has the power to connect with people across cultures and continents.
Why This Journey Matters
Choosing art wasn’t simply a career change. It was a commitment to living authentically.
Every painting I create carries a part of my story while leaving space for you to discover your own. Whether someone connects with the colours, textures, or emotions within the work, my hope is that each piece creates a meaningful and lasting connection.
This journey has also led to international recognition, including receiving the Gallery Choice Award at Milan Art Gallery in Sarasota, Florida, USA, in 2026. This recognition represents an important milestone in my artistic journey and reinforces my commitment to creating work that connects with people beyond borders.
Art has the ability to inspire, comfort, challenge, and transform. That is what continues to motivate me every day in the studio.
Looking Ahead
This is only the beginning of my journey.
I look forward to creating new collections, sharing more behind-the-scenes stories, exhibiting my work internationally, teaching art, and connecting with collectors and fellow artists around the world.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
I can’t wait to share what’s coming next.
